Leggings are worn for errands, travel, the gym and lounging. Because they get so much use, the small details matter: how the waistband stays up, whether the fabric is opaque, and how it feels after many washes.
Fabric and thickness
Thicker, softer fabrics feel more comfortable for daily wear and are less likely to become see-through when you bend. Lighter fabrics dry faster and suit warm weather and exercise.
Waistband and pockets
A wide, high waistband usually stays in place better than a thin elastic one. Side pockets are useful for a phone or keys, and a hidden pocket can hold a card.
What to compare
- Opacity: look at customer photos taken in daylight.
- Length: full length, cropped or capri.
- Whether the seams are flat to avoid rubbing.
- Fibre content and care instructions.
- Size chart, especially if you are between sizes.
Wear and care
Wash in cold water and avoid high heat in the dryer to help the fabric keep its stretch. Skip fabric softener, which can reduce stretch in some materials.
Seamless leggings
Seamless leggings are knitted in one piece, so there are fewer seams to rub. They are usually stretchy and smooth; check the thickness and the opacity, since thin knits can become see-through when stretched.
